Programme profile
Speech and Language Therapy is a dynamic healthcare profession concerned with the assessment, diagnosis and management of communication and swallowing disorders. This programme focuses on the area of disorders of communication; and focuses on anatomy, physiology, audiology, linguistics, and psychology, and students will integrate their learning across modules.
The Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists (IASLT) require that those in training have a minimum of 450 hours clinical education, 300 of which must be with a speech and language therapist, and 150 clinically-related.. In their first year, students visit preschools and centres for people with disabilities, and throughout the course, qualified speech and language therapists supervise the students in training during their work-placement.

Entry Requirements
Students must present six subjects of which two must be at grade C or above at Advanced GCE (A-Level. The other subjects must be at least at grade C or above on GCSE or Advanced Subsidiary GCE (AS) papers. The six subjects must include: English, Mathematics, a Laboratory Science subject and a language other than English
